1st Atlanta Braves Game

My new work, Fox Appliance Parts, did a baseball thing this weekend. It was really nice of them. In fact they not only paid for all the tickets, they also rented a bus to take all of us to the game. Right before we left for the game Mr. & Mrs. Fox gave each person $10 to spend at the game. The game was really fun and the Braves won.
Turner Field is really nice. It it very family friendly place. It has all these really cool things for kids to do. They have this one area that is sponsored by Turner Broadcasting , which if you do not already know has cartoon network. I only poked my head in for a second but they had video games and other baseball related things for kid to do. Also, they had places where kids could pitch and see how fast it was and batting cages. There was also this place where they did a mock up part of a major league field and kids could see what its like to run from home to first base. There was also museums and stuff like that. I have to admit, it is way better that Ball Park in Arlington, or whatever its call now days.

Rose

I like all flowers but I love roses. The first time I ever got a rose was from my daddy on the day that I was born, which I do not remember but that is what I have been told. My first memory of really loving roses was when we lived in the Mintwood house and out front there was two rose bushes. Mom said that they would never bloom but they did and they were so pretty. My wedding was done with red roses both fake and real. My living room is decorated with rose things that are from my wedding. Anyways…..
I did some research on the net about roses and the following is some information that I found. I do not know if any of this is of any interest to anyone but I found it interesting. Also, if you leave me a comment tell me what your favorite flower is.

Colors and what the stand for.
Red:
Love, Respect
Light Pink: Admiration, Sympathy
Deep Pink: Gratitude, Appreciation
Yellow: Joy, Gladness
White: Innocence
Orange: Enthusiasm
Red and Yellow Blend: Joviality
Pale Blended Tones: Sociability, Friendship
Black: Death, Hate. It used to mean Farewell
Blue: HarmonyLavender: Love at First Sight
Yellow and Red Edges: Falling in Love
Single Rose: Simplicity
Two Roses Wired Together: Coming Marriage or Engagement
Red Rosebuds: PurityRosebuds: Beauty, YouthRed and White Roses in a Bunch: The Greeks used them at funerals and it became a symbol of bad luck for them. Now it means unity for some people, bad luck for others.

Legends and Myths
The Christmas RoseWhen the Magi laid their rich offerings of myrrh, frankincense, and gold, by the bed of the sleeping Christ Child, legend says that a shepherd maiden stood outside the door quietly weeping. She, too, had sought the Christ Child. She, too, desired to bring him gifts. But she had nothing to offer, for she was very poor indeed. In vain she had searched the countryside over for one little flower to bring Him, but she could find neither bloom nor leaf, for the winter had been cold. And as she stood there weeping, an angel passing saw her sorrow, and stooping he brushed aside the snow at her feet. And there sprang up on the spot a cluster of beautiful winter roses, -- waxen white with pink tipped petals. "Nor myrrh, nor frankincense, nor gold," said the angel, "is offering more meet for the Christ Child than these pure Christmas Roses." Joyfully the shepherd maiden gathered the flowers and made her offering to the Holy Child.

Roses and Feng Shui (Chinese Superstition)Plants with thorns can create bad energy inside your house, but you can use them outside to protect your house from the killing breath entering the home or office. However, don't put them close to the entrance or they will prevent the good energy to come inside your home.

The Attar of Roses Legend (Indian Legend)They say that one day, Jahangir was on a boat with empress Nur Jahan, on a lake in one of the royal gardens. The lake was covered in roses and she noticed that the roses were making the water oily, so she took some of this water and found out it was scented. That's how she discovered the attar of roses (scented oil of roses)

TiVo

TiVo is the best thing that has ever happened to television. TiVo is very simple to use. It’s got so many features that are so awesome. It’s got the season pass, wish lists, and it will also record shows on its own if it “thinks” its something you may like. The best thing is the ability to pause, rewind and slow-mo live TV. It also goes beyond TV with digital music and photos. You can transfer your stuff from your computer to your television and then if you want burn it onto DVD.
Unfortunately, my TiVo died last week. We have only had it for a very short time; I think the electrical in out apartment is bad. Our X-box got killed one day when we had a storm. It was plugged into a surge protector, but for some reason it still fried. Therefore, I do not think it is TiVo’s fault that it died. So, anyways, we called TiVo and they are going to replace it, but it is going to take a few weeks to get it all done. I am very sad. I miss TiVo very much. I did not realize it how much I need my TiVo. I love been able to watch stuff and fast forward through commercials and rewind things that I miss or be able to pause the show when I get a phone call. I can’t wait until my new TiVo comes.
Once you got TiVo there is no going back!

Dumb Ass!

The following is a letter that was written by Michael Moore. I am not saying that I agree with all of his views, but I do agree with most of them. I am not a fan of Bush. I am not saying that I do not support my Country, I just do not like who we have chosen to be our Commander and Chief. I am sure that most of you that received this through email but I wanted to post it on my blog for those of you that may not have gotten it. So, much of it is so true. I know that not much can be changed now that this horrible disaster has happened and so many are suffering. But, lets not forget this and lets push the White House to do more and plan better so when the next hurricane or some other disaster comes we are better prepared as a whole.

Friday, September 2nd, 2005
Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and
thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on
earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help
finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a
drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really
use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping
with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of
Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it
was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still
homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its
way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you
didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get
bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to
ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to
Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't
let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and
what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you
specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans
this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you
hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army
engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important
construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was
moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you
flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey,
I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and
act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use
it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to
nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because
the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm
like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken
Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it
would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to
Cleveland.
No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent
of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no
transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not
like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on
their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING
-- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters
and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast
are near Tikrit.

Yours,
Michael Moore

P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She
and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across
the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up
with them before they get to DC in September.

Interviews

Today I had an interview at a company call Uniway. I got the interview through a temp company that I signed up with last week. I am not sure if I got the job they still have a few more people to interview after me. The lady that I talked to said that they might be making a decision before the end of the week.
There is something that I do not understand. It used to be that when you signed up with a temp company they would give you a series of tests, fill out some tax forms and then depending on your results and pervious experience they would place you in a position that best matches you previous experience.
Today with temp companies it is very different and is a two-day process. First day you interview, fill out tons paper work and go over pervious experience, takes 1 to 2 hours. The next day you go in for testing, which takes 1 to 4 hours. I understand the reasoning for testing, they need to make sure that you are not misrepresenting your self and so they can place you in the proper position. But, here is were is gets really annoying. If you are lucky and they actually have something available, you interview. At the interview is more testing and filling out an application and other paperwork. Then you still have to wait to see if you are going to get the job in question. It’s crazy!
For me, I go to a temp company so I do not have to go all the interviewing and BS that goes along with getting a job. OK, I can understand interviewing stuff but all this testing and paperwork it seems so silly.
For those of you that have a job be very thankful. Finding one sucks and is getting more and more competitive and less and less pay. I want my job back and Sanford House. But, then I would have to move back to Texas and that would not be good for my marriage.
O-well, things will get better soon and I will find another great job. I just know it!

Holy Crap!

On Wednesday morning at 11:00am, we had a very rude wake up call. Someone knocked on our door, and I made Michael go and see whom it was, he looked through the peephole and did not know whom it was, so he came back to bed. The a few minutes later, there was another knock on the door, again we just ignored it. About 30 seconds later, I thought I saw someone walk by our bedroom window, and pause. (Not too unusual to see someone out the window, for lawn care) Anyways, whoever knocked on the door to begin with started pounding on the door and banging the knocker. We both sat up in bed, then they tried to kick in the door. We jump out of bed, Michael got his sword,(our shotgun was still packed away) and he runs to the front door, and I am looking for the phone. By the time Michael gets the locks undone and opens the door, the person is gone. We called to police, and we made a report.
