Old School

Today on my way home for lunch one of the radio stations was playing all these really great early 90's rap songs. It really brought my back to early high school years.
Picture it:
"Driving in big bro's black van. The one with the orange shag carpet all over the place. In the place where the back seat/bed would be is a huge speaker box with a few 10'or 12's. And playing on the radio is My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me full blast. That song reminds me of all of us going to the ghetto to get some 40's and going party hopping. The van is packed with friends and we are all having the time of our lives."
I love to remains about the good old days. Its fun to think about all the great times we had and all the people we met along the way. There was some great people, some not so great people, some very interesting people and some really good friends. In some ways I miss the old days of high school, in some ways I do not.
I have many more great memories of the high school years but I will not make this a super long blog. But, feel free to comment with some of your memories from back in the good old days. I would like to hear them.

I have more memories of that van in the short 6 months that I drove it than any other vehicle I've owned (and I've had a few). Sometimes I would like to get me another 78 Ford E250 black van complete with the big gas suckin' 460 V8 and do it up the way I wanted to do that one just for the nostalgia of it. Those were fun times...

Indeed- alot of my memories involve that Van too. I was just singing that song to Mike the other day...

My hands were all bloody from pounding on the concrete. Then I felt just like a fiend- it wasn't even close to Halloween. Oh man, my mind is playing tricks on me.

Then there was the other rap song...
you sold drugs to my sister and now she's sick, and if she happens to die because of your drugs, I'm putting in your (somethin') a thirty eight slug.

Then there was that other hit of Vanilla Ice's. Something about a train? Do you remember? It reminds me of Tingles.

NLP, I think that you have the right idea, but it would never be the same. You only have that van for 6 months, it seemed longer.

Krit, you crack me up! In fact I was listening to Dope Man today on my way home from work. The old songs inspired me to bust out the old CD's. It was fun.
The only other Ice song that I can remember is Play the Funky Music White Boy. Was there another?
Tingles, o-my, I have not thought of that place in years. That was some weird times, some good, some not so good. We sure did meet some interesting people because of that place.
